About Vive la Nostalgie
Vive la Nostalgie is
dedicated to the celebration and enjoyment of French popular music of the 20th century that appeals to English-speaking people
who enjoy the musical sounds of the French language. We in the United
States, Canada, and Great Britain – as well as other English-speaking countries -- have enjoyed through the years, the
unique qualities of many great French performers.
In addition to the beauty
and romance of their language, we have enjoyed their joie de vivre (think Maurice
Chevalier), their passion (think Edith Piaf), and their creativity (think Charles Trenet) .
We want to salute these international icons -- along
with many gifted others -- with interesting facts and trivia that we have learned and would like to share with you.
In addition, we will be offering our own interpretations of nostalgic music that has been part of a "cultural
exchange" mutually enjoyed by the U.S. and France through the years. Many of the songs will be familiar to you, yet some
may even be new to you. (You will always find a surprise here and there, too.) Our songs could have originated on either side
of the Atlantic.
We aspire to appeal to all francophiles, whether or not they speak
or understand French, for we can all enjoy the soothing, musical sounds of the French language, even if we do not understand
the words.
We thank you for your time to visit us here at Vive la Nostalgie.com
and we hope that you will enjoy yourself, as well as consider our unique musical products offered for your listening pleasure.
